By purchasing a luxury designer garment, you are investing in a high quality piece that will last longer.

Luxury fashion goes through a lengthy design process.

Luxury fashion considers the fit of the garment.  Fast fashion has no time to perfect the fit and consider different body types, as it needs to be fast, it needs to have new products on the shop floor weekly.

Fast fashion tends to use more synthetic fabrics in order to keep their prices low.

Luxury fashion can afford higher quality, natural fabrics that will last much longer.

When we buy a more expensive, better quality and better fitting garment, we take extra care of it.  We look after it and regard it as a special piece in our wardrobe.  This provides an incentive to repair instead of dispose, meaning less chance of it ending up in landfill, making it a more sustainable purchase.

We will also have more incentive to re wear the garment, had we spent a lot of money on it. As it's a special and unique piece that we consider to be desirable, it won't be a hardship to wear it over and over again, it will be a pleasure.

Investing in luxury fashion that you can love for years, and maybe even pass on to your daughter for her to love for many years also, makes it a more sustainable option than buying disposable fast fashion.

It all comes down to this: Buy less, but buy better.
